Nearsighted (2023)

“Nearsighted” is Linard’s play on the intimate and nostalgic Willie “the Lion” Smith record, “Music On My Mind”, which features nonchalant banter elevated by graceful underscoring.

In it, Linard poses some questions - are our obsessions and passions admirable, or detrimental?  Can you love someone if you’re standing so close you can’t see the whole person? How myopic must you be to pursue jazz piano, of all things?

Feat. Adam Levy, Martina DaSilva, Jackie West, Alphonso Horne, Sammy Miller

Storytime (2022)

Recorded in Linard’s Crown Heights bedroom, this lofi jazz record is the funky result of Dan Stein, Dag Markhus, and Linard’s friendship formed while at Juilliard.

Apt listeners will notice the drums are a particularly impressive; Markhus deftly navigates only a single snare drum with a pair of brushes for the entirety of the session. Probably the best brushwork you’ll ever hear.
